About

MissioN

I’m always impressed by the creativity, innovation, and passion that I see whenever I play a new game. This feeling of discovery and awe is one of my favorite parts of gaming.

That’s why, even for games I don’t enjoy at all and won’t get a good score, I spend the majority of the focus on the game and not on my talking head. I also spend time on positive factors, such as my favorite component and favorite mechanism. Even if a game isn’t for me, it took a lot of work to get to my table. I appreciate that effort.

David about pic

I’ve loved games my entire life. I grew up playing games in the ’90s. Retro video games, chess, rummy, Scrabble, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, Risk, Monopoly, and really anything I could get my hands on.

I got into hobby gaming with my wife in 2019, while I was dealing with a health issue that kept me at home for most of my free time. I’ve logged almost a thousand plays across hundreds of games since then, and it’s been a blast.

I generally lean towards medium-weight Euro games, with some of my favorites being Cryo, Lowlands, A Feast for Odin, Smartphone, Inc., and Pulsar 2849. A lot of my gaming is with family and friends that have a lower tolerance, so I’m also a big fan of short games that can be taught to anyone, like No, Thanks!, crokinole, Klask, Caesar’s Empire, My Gold Mine, etc.

I hope you have as much fun here as I do making board game content. Thanks so much for stopping by!
